YES. From 1st August 2024 legislation came into effect for all sex work in the state of Queensland being decriminalised. Means it is no longer a crime to provide a sexual service in massage shops or in private premises as a sex worker. Provided the "sex business" operates in accordance with strict QLD Workplace Health & Safety Guidelines.

NO. Since 1st August 2024 the new decriminalised sex work legislation came into affect thereby abolishing all licensing requirements. Exisiting QLD brothels have had their licensing fees refunded.

The Prostituion Licensing Authority (PLA) has also been abolished.
